Backpacking trails with the logistics left in. Pack weight, daily distance, hut and permit rules, resupply points, and the weather windows that decide whether a route is fun in 2026.
Route, days and exit points
We build a trail as a sequence of realistic days, not a highlight reel. That means honest elevation, a rest day where the route allows it, and an exit point if the weather turns. A 20-kilometre day with a full pack is a different thing from the same distance on a day hike.
Pack weight and kit that earns its place
Every kilogram shows up on the second afternoon. We weigh the big three, test the boots on consecutive days and carry a paper map alongside a phone. Gadgets are optional; dry layers, blister care and a working headlamp are not.
Permits, huts and resupply
Some trails need a permit months ahead, some require hut bookings night by night, and some allow wild camping with strict rules. We check the official source, note the cancellation terms and plan food drops where the route is long enough to need them.
